Protecting Your Skin from Dehydration

Winter is just around the corner, and as we prepare ourselves for countless evenings wrapped up in our chunky knits, we also need to start preparing our skin. Protection against environmental stresses is vital during this time of year, as all our skin reacts to the new cold and windy environment, as well as central heating in our homes and cars. With that being said, obviously it is still important to maintain a good and consistent skin care regime all year round, but when this time of year comes up, your skin just always needs that extra care.

Dehydrated skin, not to be confused with dry skin, is a skin condition caused by external elements such as weather changes and diet habits. It is more commonly seen during the Autumn Winter months, specifically for the reasons stated above. Here at The Beauty Rooms in Bristol, we pride ourselves on having the knowledge and quality of ingredients from the products we use to prevent and in a lot of cases reverse the effects that have caused dehydrated skin. Lisa, our Guinot and Alumier skin specialist here at The Beauty Rooms, is passionate about helping to provide you with the perfect bespoke skincare routine, protecting your skin from becoming dehydrated.

The first product that Lisa recommends is the Clarins Double Serum, an extremely popular product in our salon and throughout the UK. It is the most powerful complete age control product from Clarins with two power packed serums in one to dramatically reduce the appearance of skin ageing. With more than twenty active plant extracts including Turmeric, the product works to not only reduce signs of ageing but also protect your skin from changes in the climate. The results speak for themselves, working to protect your skin, and leave it with instant radiance and an even skin tone which we all deeply crave. To compliment this product, Lisa also recommends the Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil, again from Clarins. This product has been developed to target dehydrated skin specifically in order to restore radiance and revitalise the skin. It uses the principles of aromatherapy, as well as containing essential oils to balance the skin.

Being a specialist in Guinot products and services, Lisa has two must have products for this time of year recommended to everyone in order to provide protection from the change in weather conditions. The first being, ‘Crème Pur Confort’, translated to ‘Pure Comfort Cream’. This product does exactly what it says it should, providing your skin with protection and comfort, reinforcing the skin from the inside out. It is an extremely luxurious product that feels utterly soothing on the skin, ideal for those cold and dark evenings we are about to endure. For such evenings, we are all prone to a little pamper evening, which is lucky as using a mask is extremely important in order to prevent dehydrated skin at this time of year. The ‘Masque Essentiel Nutri Confort’ from Guinot is the ideal product and one that Lisa raves about. The mask drenches the skin in an instant bath of nutrition, using the energy of essential oils to boost radiance and to nourish the epidermis.

The last product recommended as part of a healthy skincare regime is from Alumier MD, which is the latest brand to be introduced to The Beauty Rooms. Lisa, now a specialist in Alumier, highly recommends the Alumier ‘Sheer Hydration Sunscreen SPF 40’. This is a product to be used 365 days of the year, as we all now know that protection from the sun and UV light is the most important part in preventing skin ageing or any skin condition such as dehydration. The Alumier Sheer Hydration is a silky sunscreen that not only protects but also moisturises. The formula is packed with free-radical-quenching antioxidants, including a stable vitamin C, vitamin E and grape seed extract. This product is offered in non-tinted and a versatile tint that blends beautifully on the skin creating a healthy glow.
